Hello NFC Clients and Friends,
I may have a new vice. I cannot remember a day in 2023 that has passed without listening to a podcast. While I’m familiar with the adage, “You are what you read,” I wonder if the same can be said of what we listen to in this pandemic spawned era of podcasting– see SmartLess exploding onto Netflix. As I unabashedly claim to be a “financial mutant,” to borrow a moniker from one of the podcasts in my regular rotation– The Money Guy– I find that my reading has likely been surpassed by podcast consumption on walks, trail runs, adventures through the grocery store, and as an antidote to traffic. A snapshot of my ever-evolving top 10 list included below.*

This past spring I was invited to be a guest on the Better(b) podcast/Vimeo, in their effort to better explain and highlight the use of 403b and 457b defined contribution plans. I happily agreed to participate as I share their mission as part of my efforts with NFC. My public school issued laptop couldn’t handle the tech requirements to record the podcast– the audible whirring of the flywheel that apparently powers my machine gave the impression it might detonate at any second— so my iPhone had to suffice for this remote effort from casa de Norman. The discussion is included here, and may at least serve to put a voice and face with my name for those who don’t already know me. Listening/watching this might also be prescribed as a last resort sleep aid! One thing I can promise, the starter list of podcasts below are far more entertaining and informative. Check one or two out if you have time this summer, and feel free to post a comment or review in our discussion forum. I would love to know what you think, and what you are listening to. Be well!
Yours in Financial Fitness,
David, Norman Financial Coaching
